“Singer Portable’s performance at the NBA concert sparks controversy.”

Date:

The performance by singer Portable at the ‘Unbarred’ concert, hosted by the Nigerian Bar Association, has sparked considerable discussion on social media.

The event took place on Thursday at the Velodrome within the MKO Abiola Stadium. According to the event’s poster, Timi Agbaje was the host, with DJ Skillz and Veentage Band responsible for the music, promising a surprise act.

Surprisingly, Portable turned out to be the guest performer during the event.

This unexpected choice raised eyebrows, leading some social media users on X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinions on Portable’s controversial performance at the NBA concert.

One X user, bearded_lawyah, expressed skepticism, stating, “I’m curious about the genius at the Planning Committee who believed bringing Portable to #Unbarred was a good idea.

If they weren’t high on Odogwu Bitters, they must be charge and bail lawyers because this doesn’t make sense, no matter how you look at it!”

Another user, marcel_great, hinted at potential repercussions, saying, “Since #NigBarAssoc has chosen to embarrass the bar with their artist choice for the Unbarred concert, be aware that we will address this during next year’s election.

What business does the NBA have with Portable? #afamosigwe we will remind you.”

However, Metro Lawyer reported that while some lawyers left the event upon seeing Portable, others stayed to watch the singer’s performance.

In response to a purported video showing lawyers walking out, @ndm01 commented on Instagram, “I was present yesterday. This wasn’t about Portable.

It was a breakout session on the ‘Rule of Law and the Military’… The Army General leading the session denied the ‘ENDSARS’ massacre, which led lawyers in attendance to stage this walkout.”

The Unbarred Concert is a live entertainment session organized for lawyers as part of the annual NBA conference.

It serves as the grand closing party for the conference and takes place a day before the association’s annual general meeting.

Previous editions of the concert featured performances by 2baba, Wande Coal, Teni, Bez, Brymo, Nini, Falz, Olamide, and Ruger.
