The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has initiated a three-month training program for 60 unemployed youths in Ogun State, as part of the Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS) under the Special Public Works department of the Directorate.
During the launch of the EBTS 2023 training in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital, the Director-General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, emphasized that this training aims to empower unemployed individuals by equipping them with professional skills in environmental beautification, sanitation, and protection.
The Director-General, represented by Ogun State’s Acting State Coordinator, Mrs. Oshinowo Ajoke, explained that the scheme covers various skill areas, including Hard Landscaping, Soft Landscaping, Horticulture, Tiling, and Plaster of Paris (POP).
Each skill area will be supervised by experienced trainers to ensure proficiency by the end of the training period.
Congratulating the selected participants, the Director-General stated that the program’s goal is to combat unemployment in Nigeria and enable participants to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
He encouraged them to seize this opportunity with enthusiasm, emphasizing that this training equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact in the country and fosters a sense of responsibility and self-dependence.
Mrs. Olaomi Roseline, the Director of the SPW Department, who was represented by Mr. Adeyemi Ariyo, the Ogun State HOD of SPW department, urged the beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity rather than waiting for traditional white-collar jobs.
She emphasized the importance of paying close attention to their trainers during the training exercise.
