A U.S. court mandates the release of Tinubu’s educational records to Atiku from CSU

Date:

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois has ruled in favor of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The court has ordered Chicago State University (CSU) to release President Tinubu’s academic records to Atiku by Monday, October 2.

Judge Nancy Maldonado, as per a judgment obtained by PUNCH on Sunday, mentioned that CSU did not object to Judge Jeffery Gilbert’s decision to make the academic record public.

The court clarified that Atiku’s interest in obtaining this information outweighs any intrusion into Tinubu’s privacy regarding his educational records.

Maldonado overruled Tinubu’s objections to Gilbert’s recommended ruling and fully adopted it.

The memorandum opinion and order state, “Atiku’s application is granted, and an expedited schedule is set for discovery. CSU is directed to produce all relevant and non-privileged documents.

The Rule 30(b)(6) deposition of CSU’s corporate designee must be completed by 5:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Given the upcoming filing deadline before the Supreme Court of Nigeria on October 5, 2023, these deadlines will not be extended or modified.
