The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has refuted the widespread reports that claimed Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, was arrested by the agency. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi clarified that Mohbad was never arrested or detained by the NDLEA on February 24, 2022, or any other date.
Furthermore, the agency addressed claims that Mohbad was given any suspicious substance to drink, emphasizing that such allegations were baseless.
Additionally, the NDLEA responded to a statement made by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, asserting that they had already replied to the police’s inquiry regarding the singer’s death since September 28, 2023.
The response, dated September 28, was sent by flight to Lagos and received by the police on the same day.
In a press conference on October 6, Owohunwa reassured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring justice in the case.
He also mentioned that updates would be provided regarding the autopsy and toxicology reports, DPP advice, feedback from the NDLEA, and any other developments in the investigation.
