The driver of the boat on the river voluntarily turned himself in to the police in connection with the disappearance of the woman

Date:

An e-hailing cab driver named Kelechi Uzor voluntarily presented himself at the Okporo police station in Rumuodara, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State in order to establish his innocence in connection with the alleged disappearance of a passenger he had dropped off.

According to Uzor, he had taken his passenger, identified as Elizabeth Edoukumor, from Eastern By-Pass in Port Harcourt to Harmony Estate in Eliozu.

Upon reaching the estate, he parked his vehicle because access required authorization from within the estate. Elizabeth unloaded her belongings, paid the fare in cash, and Uzor departed.

After leaving, Uzor was subjected to security checks at the estate entrance.

Later that night, he received a call from a person inquiring about Elizabeth, to which he responded that he had only dropped her off at the estate and didn’t have any further information about her activities.

Subsequently, Uzor was contacted by another individual who tried to coax him into going to a specific location, a request he declined.

He began receiving threatening calls, including one from a person claiming to be the girl’s uncle, demanding her safe return.

Fearing for his safety due to these threats, Uzor visited the police station to share his side of the story.

The spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, had promised to gather more information and provide updates but hadn’t done so at the time of reporting on Friday evening.
