The court grants a verdict favoring Orits Wiliki, awarding N50 million

Date:

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a verdict awarding N50 million in damages for the loss of revenue to Orits Wiliki.

Mr. Wiliki initiated legal action against Premier Records concerning the utilization and sales of the albums “Tribulation,” “Conqueror,” and “Wha’ Dis Wha’ Dat.”

Furthermore, the court determined that the recording contract between Mr. Wiliki and Premier Records, pertaining to the mentioned albums, expired 25 years after their release.

It also noted inconsistencies in the recording contract relied upon by Premier Records.

Consequently, the court issued a perpetual injunction against Premier Records, restraining them from any further use or sale of the albums “Tribulation,” “Conqueror,” and “Wha’ Dis Wha’ Dat.”
