EFCC summons Betta Edu regarding alleged involvement in a N585 million scandal

Date:

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has summoned Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja regarding an alleged N585 million scandal.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s suspension announcement via his Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, an EFCC source confirmed that Chairman Ola Olukoyede had initially recommended her suspension for a thorough investigation.

The agency swiftly acted upon the President’s order to investigate the alleged misallocation of N585.189 million, designated for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states, into a private account.

An EFCC source stated that they’ve formally invited the suspended Minister and await her arrival at their headquarters.
