NIMC deploys extra National Identification Number (NIN) registration tools across the country

Date:

The National Identity Management Commission has greenlit the deployment of additional enrollment systems to bolster the National Identification Number enrollment process in the country.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the commission emphasized its commitment, led by Director General/Chief Executive Officer Abisoye Odusote-Coker, to streamline operations for improved efficiency.

The newly installed systems, operational in all states, have not only reduced applicant processing time but also increased the daily number of applicants attended to.

Director General Odusote-Coker has dispatched monitoring and evaluation teams nationwide to oversee the enrollment and modification processes, ensuring compliance with a zero-tolerance policy against extortion and unethical practices.

Any reported incidents of extortion are encouraged to be communicated through official channels provided.

Despite a recent slowdown in the monthly average enrollment for NIN, the 2023 figures show a 10.77% increase, with 104.16 million individuals obtaining NINs.

The actual registration figures for 2023, however, fell short of the government’s target, prompting the commission to take measures to reduce waiting times at enrollment centers across the country, as highlighted by Director General Coker-Odusote during a presentation of new enrollment devices.
