In a remarkable display of talent and cultural appreciation, Vicmob Schools hosted a memorable event on April 6th, featuring their students in the captivating play “Sisi Eko,” directed by Akapo Joshua.
“Sisi Eko” delves into the historical narrative of three distinguished women – Madam Tinubu, Erelu Kuti, and Alimotu Pelewura – who played pivotal roles in shaping the vibrant city of Lagos. Their remarkable contributions to history and culture were brought to life on stage by the talented students of Vicmob Schools.
Mrs. Modupe Folarin, the school’s Director of Studies, expressed her delight at the play’s success, emphasizing the school’s commitment to fostering creativity and historical awareness among its students.
The audience, comprised of dignitaries, parents, and supporters, were treated to a riveting performance that included acting, music, and dance. Parents watched with pride as their children immersed themselves in portraying historical characters and cultural traditions, connecting with the rich heritage of Lagos.
Among the esteemed guests was the Olori of Ọọnirisa, Her Regal Majesty Amb. Dr. Temitope Enitan- Ogunwusi, who commended the students for their exceptional performances and emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and language.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeeb Adebowale Rauf Alaye of Orisunmbare, praised the students for their mastery of the Yoruba dialect and applauded their efforts in preserving cultural traditions.
The event culminated in a joyous atmosphere, with attendees expressing their delight and appreciation for the production team and school management. The event was well-attended by parents, government functionaries representing various ministries, arts enthusiasts, and well-wishers.
Vicmob Schools’ production of “Sisi Eko” not only showcased the talent and creativity of its students but also served as a celebration of Lagos’ rich history and cultural heritage.
