Nigeria and Saint Lucia Sign Landmark MoU to Boost Tourism Cooperation

Date:

In a major diplomatic and economic milestone, Nigeria and Saint Lucia have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector. The historic agreement aims to deepen ties between the two nations, fostering cultural exchange, tourism development, and mutual investments in the fast-growing global travel economy.

Signed 2nd July 2025 under the leadership of Nigeria’s Minister of Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, the MoU outlines strategic collaboration to promote cross-border tourism initiatives, including destination marketing, heritage tourism, eco-tourism, and the creative economy.

Minister Hannatu Musawa, who has consistently championed a bold vision to elevate Nigeria’s tourism on the global stage, described the agreement as a “gateway to shared prosperity, cultural pride, and economic empowerment” for both nations.

The Government of Saint Lucia echoed similar sentiments, expressing excitement about building stronger African-Caribbean tourism relations and creating direct opportunities for tourism professionals, creatives, and investors.

This partnership is expected to open new channels for tourism exchange, collaborative festivals, joint promotional campaigns, and sustainable tourism innovations — all aimed at unlocking the full potential of both Nigeria and Saint Lucia as global cultural and travel destinations.

This MoU is not just a signature on paper — it’s a milestone for Afro-Caribbean unity and global tourism development.
