Iya Gbonkan receives brand new car from UK-based movie promoter

Date:

A United Kingdom-based film Promotions, Alexes, on Thursday, gifted a car to a popular Yoruba actress, Tobola Olayinka, popularly known as Iya Gbonkan in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Iya Gbonkan had, in recent times, called on well-to-do in Nigeria to buy her a car as she was tired of going to film locations through commercial motorcycle and public transport.

Presenting the car on behalf of the Alexes Promotions, in Ibadan, Mustapha Jayeola, said the motive behind the gesture was to encourage her as a legend in the film industry.

He said the Chief Executive Officer of the firm promotions, Omobolanle Olatise, having heard her plea on social media, directed him alongside others in Nigeria, to locate her and find out exactly what she wanted at this moment.

Jayeola said, “When we contacted Mama, she said she wanted a car because she is tired of going to locations through commercial motorcycle and public transport. We contacted Alexes Promotions in the UK and she said we should look for a good car for Mama

We contacted her immediately when we saw this car, and she paid the money in under 30 minutes yesterday (Wednesday). It was a surprise because we didn’t even tell her that we are presenting her with a car. So, she was so excited when she saw the car here in Ibadan.” Jayeola explained.

Iya Gbonkan, who was accompanied by Alirat Adunni, fondly called Tamotiye, and Toyin Oladiran also known as Abeni Agbon, was short of words and prayed to God to continue to be with Alexes Promotions and her entire family.
