Movie Review: “Obaram”

“Obaram” is an emotional drama that tells the story of a young girl with dreams of becoming a music star. After being swindled by a man who claimed to love her, she abandons her child with her father. A decade later, she is forced to retrace her actions and take responsibility.

The movie features a talented cast, including Nancy Isime, Nkem Owoh, Onyeka Onwenu, Darasimi Nadi, Bolaji Ogunmola, Sydney Talker, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Bolanle Ninalowo.

While the story is great, the movie could have been told without all the musical interruptions. The attempt to incorporate a musical element fell short and did not add value to the overall experience. However, the background provided later on was appreciated.

As an emotional drama, the movie failed to deliver on its promise. The few scenes that attempted to hit the mark were overshadowed by the blandness of the rest of the movie. The choice of music was also questionable, and it was difficult to understand its relevance to some scenes.

Onyeka Onwenu’s performance was a standout, and she portrayed her character with conviction. Nancy Isime, a great actress, did not fully embody her character, and most scenes felt forced. The child actor, Ịhụnanya, was a delight to watch and kept the audience engaged.

Overall, “Obaram” is an average movie that maintains an even flow throughout. While the musical interruptions were a hindrance, the movie is still worth watching. Therefore, I recommend it with a rating of 6/10.
