The leading family entertainment channel, Africa Magic, will premiere a new Igbo series, Nwaanyi Ike, today to appeal to lovers of local content in the Nigerian movie industry.
Commenting on the new series, the Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa, Multichoice Nigeria, Dr Busola Tejumola, said it richly portrayed the Nigerian reality in a way that appealed to lovers of local content.
Tejumola said, “Nwaanyi Ike is a fantastic addition to our existing collection of local content. It is a must-watch for lovers of Nigerian stories as the series offers an amazing plot and unearths great acting talents.
“At MultiChoice Nigeria, we remain committed to supporting local content production that showcases our stories and talent to the world.”
The statement said the 26-episode series, directed by Victor Okpala and Richard Nwosu, would premiere exclusively on Africa Magic Igbo and GOTV channel 11.
The series was based on the story of an Igbo family gripped by turmoil after the death of the family patriarch who saw the surviving heirs battle for their father’s properties.
The indigenous Igbo series was also noted as the first Igbo language series to be originally produced by Africa Magic
