Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has completed his medical vacation in Germany and returned to the country. He had left Nigeria several months ago for medical treatment in Germany.
The news of his return was confirmed by Mr. Wole Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of Ondo State, who stated that the governor was already at his residence in Ibadan.
According to Ogunmolasuyi, “We are thankful that the governor has returned to the country. He arrived in Abuja and proceeded directly to Ibadan.”
This information was also shared on his wife Betty’s social media account (formerly Twitter), where she posted a picture of him on an airplane with the caption “Homebound,” accompanied by emojis indicating his homecoming.
A source familiar with the situation mentioned that Governor Akeredolu would spend some time at his personal residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, before returning to resume his duties in Ondo State.
The source added, “From what I’ve heard, he will stay in Ibadan for a brief period before officially resuming his office. Tomorrow (Friday), we will announce the details.”
Before his departure to Germany for medical treatment, Governor Akeredolu had informed the Ondo State House of Assembly about his trip and had temporarily delegated his powers to his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Just a week ago, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde, had issued a statement indicating that the governor was still recuperating in Germany and that his return would be publicly announced when he was back.
The statement read, “Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has not yet returned to the country. The governor is currently still on a medical vacation in Germany.
We would like to assure the good people of Ondo State and Nigerians in general that the governor’s return will be widely publicized.
