Chelsea Signs 13-Year-Old South African Prodigy Camden Schaper in Record £700,000 Deal

Date:

In a groundbreaking move that has stunned the football world, Chelsea FC has signed 13-year-old South African sensation Camden Schaper for a reported £700,000, setting a new record transfer fee for a player of his age.

Born in Benoni, South Africa, Schaper began his football journey at SuperSport United’s youth academy, where his natural skill and vision quickly set him apart. His early promise led to a move to England, where he joined Blackburn Rovers’ U-14 team — and dominated.

During his stint with Blackburn, Schaper delivered an astonishing 45 goals and 65 assists, drawing the attention of major Premier League giants including Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, Chelsea ultimately secured his signature after months of scouting and negotiations.

At just 13, the young attacking midfielder is already seen as one of Africa’s brightest emerging prospects, praised for his technical flair, passing intelligence, and creativity under pressure.

“Camden’s talent is exceptional — he has the mindset, maturity, and vision far beyond his years,” a Chelsea academy source said. “We see in him the foundation of a player who could grow into something very special.”

Schaper has also signed an endorsement deal with Adidas, making him one of the youngest African athletes to partner with a global sports brand.

The move to Chelsea represents a major milestone not only for Schaper but also for African football — reinforcing the continent’s growing reputation as a breeding ground for elite global talent.

With dreams of one day gracing Stamford Bridge and representing both Chelsea and South Africa at the highest level, Camden Schaper’s journey is just beginning — but his story already stands as an inspiration for young athletes across Africa.
