The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, suffered a 2-0 loss against Guinea in a pre-2023 African Cup of Nations friendly at Abu Dhabi’s Bani Yas Stadium.

The match updates highlighted Guinea’s early goal in the 14th minute and Nigeria’s missed penalty in the 20th minute.

Despite the Eagles’ efforts to equalize, Guinea secured a second goal in the 64th minute, concluding the match 2-0 in favor of Guinea.

Looking ahead to the AFCON tournament, Nigeria aims for its fourth title, having previously won in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

The Super Eagles are set to begin their Group A campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, followed by matches against host nation Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau on January 18 and 22, respectively.

Both Nigeria and Guinea face challenging groups in this year’s AFCON, with tough competitors such as defending champions Senegal, Cameroon, Gambia, and Equatorial Guinea.
