“In the entertainment industry, talent takes precedence over gender, according to Taaooma.”

Date:

A skit creator named Maryam Apaokagi, also known as Taaooma, emphasized that one’s level of creativity is a more crucial factor for success than one’s gender.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she expressed, “Success ultimately hinges on an individual’s creative prowess.

Confidence in one’s abilities is the key, irrespective of whether you are in a predominantly male-dominated industry.

My advice to aspiring female comedians is to have faith in themselves.”

She further added her perspective on how the industry supports female content creators as much as their male counterparts, highlighting the numerous collaboration opportunities that contribute to audience growth.

Reflecting on her experience participating in the TV comedy show, ‘LOL: Last One Laughing Naija,’ Taaooma described it as a significant challenge.

Being in the same room with exceptionally talented comedians she had admired and refraining from laughter was, in her words, a form of mini-torture.

She admitted that her tendency to laugh made it particularly tough, and at times, she even contemplated escaping to avoid laughing.

Regarding her career aspirations, Apaokagi shared her ongoing goal of creating accessible, educational, motivational, and humorous content.

She firmly believed that by continually pushing her boundaries, she would unveil new facets of her personality and talent.
