Mohbad: Management organizes Thursday candlelight event; young people demonstrate

The management representing the late Nigerian music artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has officially announced plans for a candlelight procession and tribute night in honor of the departed artist.

Mohbad, a former artist under Naira Marley’s Marlian Records, tragically passed away at the age of 27 last Tuesday.

Since his untimely death, Mohbad’s devoted fans and sympathizers have been fervently advocating for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

In a heartfelt message posted on the late singer’s social media accounts on Monday night, the management expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming love and support received from fans worldwide.

They also acknowledged the various events organized by fans in different communities to commemorate and pay their respects to the shining star.

The management extended an invitation to join them for Mohbad’s candlelight procession, scheduled for Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5 pm at Lekki Phase 1 Gate. The tribute concert will follow at 8 pm at Muri Okunola Park, Lagos State.

In a show of solidarity, concerned youths in Panseke, Abeokuta, Ogun State, took to the streets dressed in black attire, brandishing placards bearing slogans such as #JusticeForMohbad and #WhoTurnedOffTheLight, demanding justice for the late artist.

Additionally, youth activists convened at Effurun Roundabout, Delta State, to echo the same call for justice in Mohbad’s case, marching with placards bearing the slogan “Say no to Marlian music, we need justice.”

In response to these demands, the Lagos State Police Command established a specialized investigative team dedicated to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

Comprising 13 members, this team has been tasked with identifying witnesses, potential culprits, and any individuals who can assist in the investigation.

They will also employ various technological tools and legal provisions to aid in the investigative process. The team is expected to submit an interim report within two weeks.

In light of the tragic passing of IleriOluwaOladimeji, known as Mohbad, the Lagos State Police Command has initiated a special investigative team to meticulously examine the circumstances surrounding the artist’s demise.

This investigative team, composed of 13 members, has been assigned the critical mission of uncovering details, identifying witnesses and potential wrongdoers, and employing modern technology to facilitate the investigation, all in accordance with Nigeria’s constitutional and state laws.

Their scope of work includes exhumation, autopsy, toxicology, histology, scene investigation, examination of hospital and medical reports, and the compilation of statements from suspects and witnesses
