Mohbad: The police didn’t extend an invitation to me prior to declaring me wanted, according to Primeboy

Date:

Afro singer and songwriter, Owodunni Ibrahim, widely recognized as Primeboy, has vehemently denied the assertion that the Lagos State Police Command had invited him prior to declaring him a wanted individual on Tuesday.

Primeboy, a close friend of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, affectionately known as Mohbad, was declared wanted due to alleged non-compliance with a police summons regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of the former Marlian records’ signee.

In an interview with the private television station TVC, conducted just before he voluntarily turned himself in on Wednesday, Primeboy insisted that he had never received any invitation from the police. He explained that, initially, when people began to accuse him of being involved in Mohbad’s death, he had attempted to visit the police station to clear his name.

He stated, “I have never received a message of invitation from the police, that’s a complete falsehood. Prior to the situation of declaring me wanted, I had intended to clarify matters at the station after facing allegations of Mohbad’s death.”

Primeboy went on to reveal that he sought advice from those he reached out to, including his lawyer, who advised him to wait for an official police invitation rather than going to the station to explain himself. Thus, he was taken aback when he discovered that the police had declared him wanted, with a reward of one million Naira for information about his whereabouts.

When questioned about his presence with Mohbad at his last show and whether they had a dispute, Primeboy admitted to having had disagreements with Mohbad but clarified that it stemmed from a misunderstanding he had with his own wife while they were in the car together on the day he attended his Ikorodu performance.

He explained, “Mohbad was attempting to exit the car when a dispute between him and his wife escalated. I intervened, suggesting that it wasn’t safe for him to do so while Zlatan was still performing. He then asked me to step out of the car, which I did. I could sense that he was deeply upset by his reaction that day.”

As Primeboy remains in police custody, he expressed doubts about Mohbad’s wife, implying that she may have played a role in framing him for the late singer’s death on the internet.
