Mohbad’s parents revealed that he remained in hiding for half a year due to concerns about potential attacks

Date:

The parents of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, revealed to the Coroner’s Inquest that they stopped going to shows for six months due to their son’s fear of constant beatings, harassment, and bullying from his former label owner, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and his associate, Sammy Larry.

Mohbad expressed his desire to no longer have Naira Marley’s brother, Tunde Fashola, as his manager.

Joseph Aloba, the father, explained that Mohbad was afraid to leave his home for six months, fearing that the substance he consumed at the NDLEA might lead to issues at the airport.

He recounted an incident where Mohbad was injured and mentioned that it was customary for Naira Marley and his associates to attack him.

The mother, Abosede, shared that Mohbad was in constant fear and claimed that Naira Marley collected all the money from Mohbad’s performances due to an ongoing three-year contract.

Mohbad had reported attacks by Naira Marley to the police, but it’s unclear if Naira Marley was summoned.

She also mentioned that she only reconnected with Mohbad in 2019, having separated from his father when he was three years old.

Mohbad’s mother said she initially believed he was meant to be a pastor, but he pursued a music career instead.

She recalled an incident where he was beaten, cried, and claimed that Naira Marley intended to harm him.

On the day of Mohbad’s death, he rushed to Naira Marley’s house after hearing about an NDLEA raid.

The NDLEA took his friends, and he became unwell after drinking water there. Mohbad explained to his mother that Naira Marley wanted to harm him.

He had a show scheduled for September 10, 2023, in Ikorodu, but he passed away shortly after.

The mother noted that her son had warned her not to reveal these details as he feared for her safety.

Joseph Aloba explained that they buried Mohbad quickly because the mortuary had rejected him, and the burial took place on land owned by the deceased.

Aloba also described finding blood-soaked clothes in Mohbad’s room on the day he died, indicating a tragic and troubling situation.
