The Federal Government and organized labor are currently engaged in confidential discussions at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This emergency meeting on Sunday, initiated by the Federal Government, represents a last-minute effort to avert the nationwide indefinite strike scheduled by the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria for Tuesday.
The labor delegation in attendance includes Joe Ajaero, the President of NLC; Nuhu Toro, the Secretary of TUC; and Emma Ugbaja, the counterpart of NLC.
Leading the government’s team is Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President.
The government’s delegation also includes Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation; Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; Simon Lalong, the Minister of Labour and Employment; Nkeiruka Onyejecha, the Minister of State; Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance; Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; and Beta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Additionally, some directors from the Ministry of Labour and Employment are also in attendance.
