VICMOB High School is proud to announce the staging of a spectacular theatrical production, “SISI EKO – LAGOS WOMEN OF ALL SEASON,” scheduled for April 6, 2024, by 4 pm at the school premises, 23, Elegbede Street off Coker Road, Shasha, Oguntade, Egbeda, Lagos.

Project Objectives:

1. Unveiling Theatrical Talents with Excellence: The play aims to cultivate a culture of excellence by providing a platform for pupils/students to showcase and discover their theatrical skills and talents. Through role-playing, the project seeks to instill a commitment to excellence in both performance and creative expression.

2. Weaving the Historical Tapestry with Character: This immersive experience skillfully intertwines the threads of history to present an engaging narrative that vividly portrays the indomitable spirit of women in Lagos. The goal is to build character, instilling values of resilience, leadership, and determination inspired by the stories of Erelu Kuti, Madam Tinubu, and Alimotu Pelewura.

3. Cultural Exploration and Celebration with Creativity: By celebrating the vibrant cultural tapestry of Lagos State, the project delves into the historical context of the city with a creative approach. Through this exploration, students are encouraged to express their creativity as they learn about and appreciate the diverse cultural heritage aligned with the school’s commitment to fostering creativity.

4. Spotlight on Iconic Women with Care: Commemorating World Theatre Day 2024, the production shines a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of Erelu Kuti, Madam Tinubu, and Alimotu Pelewura. This theatrical masterpiece is crafted with care to honor their legacies and inspire care for our cultural heritage.

5. Empowering the Younger Generation through Community Service: The play aims to empower and inspire the younger generation by highlighting the stories of resilience, vision, and leadership demonstrated by Erelu Kuti, Madam Tinubu, and Alimotu Pelewura. This exposure is considered a form of community service, contributing to the educational and cultural enrichment of our school community.

B. Historical Accuracy and Reverence in Education: Meticulously research and portray the historical accuracy of Erelu Kuti, Madam Tinubu, and Alimotu Pelewura, paying homage to their legacies. This goal serves as an educational endeavor, fostering a commitment to excellence in understanding and respecting historical narratives.

C. Empathetic Character Portrayals for Social Growth: Invite the audience to connect deeply with the characters through authentic, empathetic portrayals. This not only enhances their understanding but also contributes to social growth and empathy development, in line with the vision of building children with excellence in interpersonal skills.

D. Recognition of Women’s Leadership for Inspirational Learning: Emphasize the groundbreaking leadership roles played by Erelu Kuti, Madam Tinubu, and Alimotu Pelewura. This recognition aims to inspire and educate students on the societal impact of women’s leadership, aligning with the vision of building children to become excellent contributors to society.

F. Cultural Enrichment for a Well-Rounded Perspective: Immerse the audience in the rich cultural heritage of Lagos during the eras of these remarkable women. G. Inspiration for the Present and Future Leaders: Draw parallels between historical struggles and contemporary challenges to inspire present and future generations.
