The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced the apprehension of two suspected internet fraudsters at the residence of the musician, John Njeng Njeng, who is widely recognized as Skales.
The EFCC conveyed this information through a statement posted on their social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), on Tuesday.
According to the statement, “On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the operatives of the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud at House F10, Victoria Crest 4, Lekki, Lagos.
The individuals in question are Udemba Chukwuemeka, also known as ‘Jody,’ and Jamal Jamiu Onasola, known as ‘Jamal.’
They were apprehended at the residence of musician John Njeng Njeng, popularly known as Skales.”
The statement continues, “These two suspects are believed to be associated with a dating scam and have described Njeng as their ‘mentor.’
Chukwuemeka has resided in Njeng’s home for two years, while Onasola has only been there for a few months. Once the investigations are completed, they will be taken to court.”
However, singer John Njeng-Ngeng, widely known as Skales, raised concerns about an alleged intrusion by EFCC officials at his residence on the same day.
In response, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, refuted these claims, stating that such allegations were baseless and asserting that EFCC officials do not engage in such tactics.
