The federal secretariat is ravaged by a fierce blaze

On Saturday, a fire broke out at the Federal Secretariat, reportedly ignited by an explosion in the electrical utility room.

According to Muhammed Ahmed, the Director of Communications for the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm at Block C of the Federal Secretariat, Phase II, Abuja.

Ahmed clarified that the fire originated from the Electrical Utility Room on the Third Floor, serving as a Solar and Inverter Room for the current occupant, the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.

The situation, brought under control by the Federal and FCT Fire Services around 5 p.m., impacted Utility Rooms from the second to the eighth floors.

Present during the operation were Permanent Secretaries Lydia Jafiya and Faruk Yabo, overseeing the affected MDAs.
