Tinubu has summoned all ambassadors back to Abuja by October 31.

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive for the recall of all ambassadors and non-career ambassadors who are currently stationed in various parts of the world.

This decision was communicated by Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, through his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, on a recent Saturday.

The Minister clarified that this recall pertains to both career diplomats and non-career appointees, reiterating that ambassadors serve as representatives of Nigeria abroad under the authority of the President.

It is within the President’s discretion to deploy or call them back from any foreign posting.

The recalled ambassadors are expected to initiate the process of concluding their duties in their respective host countries.

They must formally inform the host governments of their departure within a period of 60 days and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023.

Expressing his gratitude for their dedicated service as they represented Nigeria in foreign nations, the Minister eagerly anticipates their return to Abuja.
