Yuletide: LASTMA mobilizes staff and patrol vehicles for deployment

Date:

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has strategically deployed personnel, patrol teams, and tow vehicles across key areas in the state to facilitate seamless movement during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

According to a statement from the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, this proactive measure aims to ensure unhindered traffic flow and swift intervention in case of any violations that could cause delays for drivers.

Acting General Manager Bakare Oki emphasized the commitment of the personnel to address potential traffic disruptions and urged drivers to comply with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.

The law mandates adherence to safety measures such as wearing seat belts, avoiding overloading, refraining from speeding, not using phones while driving, and abstaining from operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The statement further highlighted LASTMA’s dedication to its statutory responsibilities in maintaining smooth traffic flow throughout the state.

General Manager Bakare Oki Olalekan emphasized the agency’s focus on ensuring a hassle-free traffic experience and rapid responses to any infractions that could prolong motorists’ journey times.

Additionally, the statement conveyed the agency’s annual ‘Ember Months Road Safety Advocacy Campaign,’ which involves robust initiatives such as aggressive public enlightenment, efficient traffic control, swift rescue operations, and effective enforcement measures.
