10Alytics elevates its bi-annual Data Hackathon to a global platform

10Alytics, a renowned EdTech firm known for cultivating global tech talents, has expanded its bi-annual Data Hackathon onto the international stage.

The fifth installment, named ’10Alytics Global Hackathon 2023,’ is set to include participants from over 20 countries, fostering healthy competition among data enthusiasts in Africa and worldwide.

Scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd, the event has garnered 2,000 applications and will be adjudicated by six judges from Nigeria, South Africa, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.

Adeiza Suleman, the founder, elucidated that the Global Hackathon’s purpose is to generate ideas and solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through spirited competitions among data and tech enthusiasts.

He emphasized 10Alytics’ commitment to supporting the UN SDGs as a blueprint for a more sustainable future.

The hackathon’s mission is to leverage data and technology to contribute to the achievement of these goals, spanning from addressing environmental concerns to enhancing access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities.

Co-founder Efemena Ikpro highlighted the unique aspect of the 10Alytics Global Hackathon—its global reach, bringing together participants from Africa and other regions to tackle universally impactful issues with a specific focus on the African continent.

He stressed the hackathon’s recognition that addressing global challenges necessitates diverse perspectives and an understanding of local contexts, empowering participants to create solutions with a global impact.

Adeiza and Efemena emphasized that the virtual hackathon is open to all, with prizes totaling over $2,000, including a cash prize of $1,500 to be shared among the top three winners and an international article publication.

They outlined 10Alytics’ commitment to supporting long-term sustainability through mentorship opportunities, partnerships with top AI publications, and post-hackathon development of winning solutions for presentation at SDG solution forums.
