Full closure planned for Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours due to repair work

Date:

On Thursday, the Federal Government made an official announcement regarding the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

This closure is scheduled to commence at midnight on Saturday, October 21 and will continue until midnight on Sunday, October 22.

The purpose of this closure is to facilitate necessary repair and rehabilitation works on the bridge.

Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, conveyed this information in a statement.

She emphasized that the government is fully prepared to initiate comprehensive rehabilitation efforts on the bridge, starting with addressing critical sections that require repairs.

Kesha further clarified that the Federal Government is actively planning to carry out extensive repair work on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In order to minimize the current inconveniences faced by commuters on the bridge, the Ministry will conduct palliative repairs on the most severely affected sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, October 22.

This will serve as a preparatory step for the comprehensive repair works.

Motorists are urged to collaborate with traffic management authorities by adhering to and following diversions as directed, ensuring smooth traffic flow.

However, during the period of the palliative works, motorists are encouraged to explore alternative routes whenever feasible, as the Adeniji bound section of the bridge will be inaccessible to traffic from Saturday, October 21 until midnight on Sunday, the 22nd.
