The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared its commitment to rejuvenate the party, undeterred by the internal strife that led to its significant defeat in the last general elections in the state.
The PDP opposition party made this resolution during its General Assembly, led by Chief Olabode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP in the state.
The gathering, held at Chief George’s Ikoyi office, aimed to reassure members and supporters that, despite the election setback, the party remained united.
Notably, the PDP experienced its most substantial defeat since 1999 due to internal conflicts, with some leaders openly supporting the opposition Labour Party (LP).
During the assembly, Chief George, also known as the Atona Oodua of Yoruba land, encouraged members to stand firm, assuring them that the party would recover its former prominence and avoid fading into obscurity.
He further urged the national party leadership to conduct a thorough post-mortem analysis to address the issues that plagued the party.
He emphasized the need for accountability and financial responsibility, calling for those responsible for actions detrimental to the party to be held accountable.
