ACF expresses opposition to the transfer of CBN units and FAAN headquarters to Lagos

Date:

The Arewa Consultative Forum strongly criticizes the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s decision to relocate key departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to Lagos.

According to the ACF, this move is a deliberate attempt to further underdevelop the northern region.

While the CBN cites congestion as the reason for the move, the ACF argues that it is done in bad faith.

They urge the Federal Government and the National Assembly to intervene, emphasizing that there is ample land in the Federal Capital Territory for expansion.

The ACF emphasizes the historical relocation of the capital to Abuja for valid reasons and calls for a reconsideration of these recent decisions.

The CBN, through an official, maintains that the relocation is purely operational and not politically motivated.
