Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo pays tribute to the EFCC for capturing his impersonator.

A young man, Omogan Destiny Igbinosa, was sentenced to two years in prison with the possibility of a N1 million fine by Warri Federal Supreme Court for impersonating Nollywood star Bolanle Ninalowo.

Bolanle Ninalowo, a popular Nigerian actor who recently made headlines after the arrest and conviction of a man impersonating him in 2021, reacted to the news on social media, and Ninalowo himself commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for capturing his impersonator.

Bolanle Ninalowo is one of the most popular actors in the Nigerian film industry, and it’s no surprise that someone is trying to imitate him.

But it is encouraging to see that the EFCC has taken swift action to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.

The case was tried before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. In his ruling, Justice Nwite stated that Igbinosa was found guilty of the charges against him and was sentenced to two years in prison with an option of a fine of N1 million.

This judgment sends a clear message that impersonation and fraud are not tolerated in Nigeria and that the justice system will take swift action against those who engage in such activities.

Nigerians took to social media to express their opinions on the matter, with many commending the EFCC for its efforts in bringing the impersonator to justice.

Ninalowo himself also spoke out, commending the EFCC for capturing the impersonator and expressing his gratitude to his fans and well-wishers for their support.

“End of the road for these bunch! Thanks @officialefcc”, he wrote.
