Aina secures Forest’s Best Player Award, dethroning Awoniyi

Date:

Nigerian defender, Ola Aina, has been named Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Month for September, as announced by the club on Tuesday.

Aina secured this recognition with an impressive 40% of the total fan votes, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi, who claimed the honor in August.

During September, Aina featured in three crucial matches for the Tricky Trees. These included a remarkable 1-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the City Ground against Burnley, and a challenging 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The 26-year-old defender, who joined Forest on a free transfer after leaving Torino, has made a significant impact in the current Premier League season, participating in five matches.

His versatility is a key asset, as he can adeptly play on both the left and right flanks of the defense, consistently delivering solid performances.

In a recent interview with the club’s website, Aina expressed his enjoyment of life at the City Ground, saying, “It’s been fun.

I’ve enjoyed every bit of it so far.

The staff, the players, the city itself, it’s been really good to me so far and long may it continue.

I was the first to arrive this summer, and it was fun, I had Taiwo and Emmanuel Dennis here, who I know from Nigeria, I knew Morgan and Harry Toffolo too, so it was smooth sailing.”

Although Aina was absent from the last game against Brentford on Sunday, he is eager to make a comeback for their upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest currently occupies the 12th position in the Premier League table, boasting seven points from eight games.
