The much-anticipated Nollywood film “Fury” made a remarkable statement at its exclusive premiere and private screening held on May 17, 2026, at Genesis Cinemas Lekki, drawing an impressive gathering of filmmakers, actors, media personalities, and entertainment stakeholders from across Nigeria’s film industry.

Produced under the banner of Unique Motion Media Konsult, Fury delivered an emotionally gripping and socially conscious cinematic experience that left guests deeply moved and highly impressed. The premiere night was colorful, glamorous, and filled with excitement as audiences applauded the film’s strong social message and powerful storytelling.

The event was attended by several respected figures in Nollywood, including Efa Iwara, Yvonne Jegede, Oyindamola Sanni, Lanre Adediwura, Florence U Okechukwu, Wole Ojo, Yetunde Barnabas and Foza, amongst many other industry guests and supporters.

Speaking during the premiere, filmmaker and Executive Producer Akinnayajo Babatunde, popularly known as Mr Tunez, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from colleagues, partners, cast members, and guests. He described Fury as a project born from the desire to spark meaningful conversations within African homes and society.

“Seeing people connect emotionally with this story and understand its message is deeply fulfilling. This premiere is only the beginning of bigger things ahead,” Babatunde stated.

The film was produced by Akinnayajo Babatunde, Oyindamola Sanni, and Opeoluwa Adetunji.

Ahead of its premiere, Fury had already begun attracting industry recognition following its nominations at the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards in categories including Best Social Message, Best Actress, and Best Sound.

The film explores emotional and societal realities affecting families and relationships, particularly issues surrounding womanhood, emotional trauma, and the ripple effects of domestic struggles within African society. According to earlier reports, the project was created to reflect relatable social experiences while encouraging conversations around healing and awareness.

Brand partner SekiApp also played a major role at the premiere, reinforcing its commitment to supporting African storytelling and creative innovation. The company was represented by its manager, Mr. Bello, who conveyed goodwill messages and support from the company’s CEO to the filmmakers and invited guests.

Over the years, Akinnayajo Babatunde has continued to establish himself as one of the notable creative voices in contemporary Nigerian filmmaking through projects such as Midnight and ÀRÌNFESÈSÍ (A Day of Misfortune), alongside his work empowering creatives through PhotoSceneLenses Africa.

With the successful premiere now concluded, anticipation continues to build around the official public release of Fury, as audiences and industry observers expect the film to further spark conversations and earn wider recognition both locally and internationally.
