The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory across all 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats in Ekiti state following Saturday’s elections conducted by the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) in all LGAs.
Returning officers in the LGAs and local council development areas presented the election results at the EKSIEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday.
EKSIEC chairman, Cornelius Akintayo, commended the electorate for their peaceful conduct, praised political parties for sportsmanship, and acknowledged the professionalism of media personnel and security agencies.
Participating parties included Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had earlier declared non-participation in the council elections.
