Black Market’ Unveils First Look Ahead of Ambitious Guinness World Records Premiere Attempt

Rixel Studios has officially released the first-look images from its highly anticipated feature film, Black Market, setting the stage for one of the most ambitious cinema events in Nigeria’s history.

The film is scheduled to premiere on September 26, 2026, with organisers planning a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest attendance at a film screening in a single location. The historic event is expected to take place at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, where organisers are targeting 50,000 attendees, surpassing the current world record of 40,000.

Black Market features an impressive ensemble cast led by Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe, Folagade Banks, Tomiwa Tegbe, Andrew Yaw Bunting, Shamz Garuba, and Adeoluwa Akintoba.

The film is a collaboration between Rixel Studios, FilmOne Entertainment, and Signet Ring Studios, while Switch Visuals Productions is handling event production for the record-breaking premiere.

Executive producers on the project include Rixel Studios, FilmOne Studios, Omowunmi Dada, Susan Ganchung Pwajok, and Mike Afolarin.

The film is directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Abdul Tijani-Ahmed. Production is led by Nora Awolowo and Nicole Ofoegbu.

With its star-studded cast and an unprecedented premiere plan, Black Market is positioning itself as one of the most talked-about Nigerian film releases of 2026, combining cinematic storytelling with a landmark event aimed at making global entertainment history.
