CAF ANNOUNCES FULL LIST OF 2025 AWARD WINNERS, HONOURS AFRICAN LEADERS FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the winners of the highly anticipated 2025 CAF Awards, celebrating the continent’s finest football talents, exceptional coaches, top-performing teams, and influential leaders whose contributions continue to shape the growth of the sport across Africa.

This year’s ceremony highlighted outstanding individual brilliance, rising stars, and national teams that demonstrated excellence on the global and continental stages.

Top Honours

Achraf Hakimi of Morocco clinched the prestigious African Player of the Year, solidifying his status as one of the continent’s most consistent and influential performers. In the women’s category, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak was named African Female Player of the Year, further underscoring the country’s dominance in the awards.

  • Best Goalkeeper: Yassine Bounou (Morocco)
  • Best Female Goalkeeper: Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria)
  • Best Young Player: Othmane Maamma (Morocco)
  • Best Young Female Player: Doha El Madani (Morocco)
  • Coach of the Year: Bubista (Cape Verde)
  • Team of the Year: Morocco U-20
  • Women’s Team of the Year: Nigeria
  • Club of the Year: Pyramids FC (Egypt)
  • CAF Best Men’s Referee of the Year: Omar Artan (Somalia)
  • CAF Best Women’s Referee of the Year: Shamirah Nabadda (Uganda)

Leadership Excellence Recognised

CAF also honoured three African presidents with the CAF Outstanding Award for their significant contributions to the advancement of football on the continent. The recipients were:

  • William Ruto, President of Kenya
  • Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania
  • Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda

The trio was commended for policies, investments, and programmes that have strengthened football development infrastructures and boosted youth engagement through sport.

Goal of the Year

Tanzania’s Clément Mzize received the CAF Goal of the Year Award, marking one of the standout moments in African football during the year under review.

The 2025 CAF Awards once again celebrated the resilience, talent, and passion that define African football, offering a powerful reminder of the continent’s rising influence on the global stage.
