Canadian singer Claire Boucher, known as Grimes, has taken legal action against billionaire Elon Musk regarding their parental rights for their three children.
According to documents obtained by Page Six on Tuesday, Boucher filed a “petition to establish parental relationship” in a California court on September 29.
This petition is typically used to request a court declaration of legal parentage when the parents are not married.
While the fact of the filing is public, the specific details of the documents remain sealed.
This lawsuit comes after Grimes publicly appealed to Elon Musk to allow her to see their third child, whose birth was kept secret.
In now-deleted tweets, Grimes responded to a post by Walter Isaacson, the author of Musk’s biography, which featured pictures of twin children shared by Musk and Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.
Grimes requested that Shivon unblock her and asked Elon to let her see their son, expressing her frustration at not even having seen a photo of the children until then.
Grimes and Musk had an on-and-off relationship from 2018 to 2021 and have three children together: X (born in 2020), Exa (born via surrogacy in 2021), and another son, Techno Mechanicus, as revealed in Musk’s biography published in September 2023.
The exact birth year of Techno Mechanicus was not disclosed in the biography.
