Davido has announced a three-night residency at the National Theatre in Lagos, scheduled to run from December 17 to 19, 2026. Billed as ORIADE: The Residency, the run will be the first multi night engagement staged by an Afrobeats artist at the historic Iganmu venue, and it arrives as Davido marks fifteen years in music.
The singer made the announcement on September 18 across his social media platforms, alongside an official trailer and the music video for his single ‘On The Road.’ In the caption accompanying the post, he wrote that he was bringing the show home, calling it a homecoming rather than an ordinary concert.
A HOMECOMING BUILT AROUND ORIADE
The residency will mark the first full live performance in Lagos of ORIADE, Davido’s sixth studio album, released on July 31, 2026. The thirteen-track project takes its title from the Yoruba words ori, meaning destiny, and ade, meaning crown, and its lead single, ‘I Know Who I Be,’ features the South African producers JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay.
Across the three nights, Davido is expected to pair songs from the new album with material spanning his career, from his 2011 breakout single ‘Dami Duro’ through the hits that followed. Special guests have been promised for each night, though no names had been confirmed at the time of the announcement.
A LANDMARK VENUE, FRESHLY RESTORED
The National Theatre was built for FESTAC ’77, the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture, and has long stood as one of Lagos’ defining landmarks. The building has recently completed an extensive renovation, and the residency will serve as one of its first major contemporary showcases since the work was finished.
Speaking to CNN about the decision to stage the residency at home, Davido said bringing everything back home is very important for the culture. He added that the run had taken close to a year to plan, and that it was meant to show that African artists can stage major productions locally while supporting Nigerian businesses in the process.
TIMING AND THE DETTY DECEMBER CALENDAR
The residency falls within Detty December, the annual stretch when Lagos fills with returning members of the Nigerian diaspora and becomes, for a few weeks, the busiest live entertainment market on the continent. The second night, December 18, coincides with the opening night of the Livespot360 Detty December Fest, a thirteen-day programme across two stages that will be headlined that evening by Wizkid.
Industry observers have described the residency format itself as unusual for Nigeria, where major artists typically perform a single date rather than return to the same stage on consecutive nights. A residency spreads production costs across several nights in one venue instead of moving a full stage setup between cities, a model more commonly associated with Las Vegas and London.
TICKET ACCESS
Presale registration opened to members of Davido’s 30BG fanbase ahead of general sale, with tickets scheduled to go on sale on September 25, 2026. Pricing tiers and full seating details had not been made public at the time of writing.
The residency follows a year of heavy touring for Davido, including his 42 date 5IVE ALIVE Tour across twelve countries on four continents, his first appearance at Coachella, and his feature on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album with the song ‘No Place Like Home,’ recorded alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado.
