Paul Pogba Could Be Suspended from Football for Four Years Following Confirmation of Positive Drug Test in B Sample

Date:

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba faces the potential of a four-year football ban after his secondary testosterone test returned a positive result.

This development has kept him out of action for Juventus since his initial suspension when he initially tested positive for testosterone.

The situation arose after Pogba was randomly selected for a test following Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Udinese on August 20.

The subsequent test revealed elevated levels of testosterone, and a follow-up sample also confirmed the positive result, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The National Anti-Doping Tribunal will now deliberate on the charges against Pogba, and he could potentially be banned from football for a period ranging from two to four years.

Concurrently, Juventus faces the decision of how to handle Pogba’s contract, considering he still has nearly three years left on his current deal.

Pogba returned to Juventus after leaving Manchester United last summer but experienced a challenging first season back at the Allianz Stadium.

Pogba’s playing time was limited due to a knee injury that sidelined him for approximately five months.

He made a brief return as a substitute in a home game against Monza in January but was soon sidelined again, this time due to a groin injury, causing him to miss three Serie A matches.

Despite these setbacks, Pogba managed to make a few appearances, including the Europa League semi-final against Sevilla, where he provided his sole assist of the season.

Unfortunately, he missed the final four matches due to a hamstring issue but made efforts to recover during pre-season.
He was named as an unused substitute in the opening victory against Udinese and later featured in matches against Bologna and Empoli, accumulating a total of 50 minutes of playing time.
