Renowned actors Sam Dede and Chinwetalu Agu are poised to make a comeback in the revamped version of the film ‘Issakaba,’ in which they originally starred decades ago.
The five-part movie, originally crafted by the late filmmaker Chukwuka Emelionwu and Moses of Mosco production in 2001, is undergoing a remake helmed by the acclaimed filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen.
In a statement shared with Saturday Beats, Imasuen, often referred to as ‘the guvnor’ by his admirers, announced that the remake would not only reunite actors from the original but also introduce new talents.
The cast includes Chidi Mokeme, Regina Daniels, Nosa Rex, Iyabo Ojo, Sanni Danga, and Alex Osifo, among others.
The movie is set to showcase the return of Phyna, Mark Angel, Francis Onwochei, Charles Okafor, and Ben Olaye, among other talented individuals.
Lancelot Imasuen explained that the decision to remake the movie stemmed from overwhelming demand from fans on various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Even notable entertainers like Davido have incorporated the term ‘Issakaba’ into their content.
The original movie portrayed an action-packed narrative focusing on the ‘Bakassi Boys,’ a community vigilante group combating armed robbery, murder, and other crimes.
It also depicted the challenges faced by shoemakers in Aba, Abia State, and their determination to fight back using ‘traditional’ policing methods, achieving positive results.
‘Issakaba’ symbolizes truth, justice, and fairness, making its revival a highly anticipated event in response to widespread enthusiasm.
