Suspects flee with merchandise worth N40.6 million

Date:

The Ogun State Police Command is actively pursuing Joseph Nwakpe and accomplices over the alleged theft and diversion of Knorr seasoning products valued at N40.6 million.

According to insider information, Nwakpe and others were contracted by a transport manager named Pedro Okanlawon from Lap Global Resource. Their task was to transport 2,085 cases of Knorr seasoning from Agbara to Onitsha and Port Harcourt.

The delivery was carried out using a distinctive custom-painted Mercedes Benz truck with Registration Number 3364N244722 and Engine Number 3364N244722. The truck bore the inscriptions “Never give up” and “Ifeomachukwu” on the front view.

Okanlawon, a transport manager based in Lagos, repeatedly attempted to contact Nwakpe and his associates via phone to inquire about their progress. However, all efforts to locate the suspects proved futile, leading the victim to file a formal complaint at a police station in Agbara.

Following a thorough police investigation, the truck’s driver, identified as Danladi Suleiman from the Ayetoro area of Agbara/Badagry Expressway, was apprehended on September 5, 2023.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the arrested suspect had already confessed to the crime. The police are currently conducting further investigations.
