Nigeria is strengthening its presence on the global tourism stage as the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) leads the country’s delegation to the 2026 World Travel Market (WTM) in London, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s endorsement of Nigeria’s participation.
The participation marks another step in the country’s efforts to promote its tourism potential, attract international investment and establish Nigeria as a competitive destination in the global travel and tourism market.
Speaking on the significance of the international platform, NTDA Director-General, Mr Olayiwola Awakan, GrPr, said WTM London offers Nigeria an important opportunity to showcase its rich cultural heritage, natural attractions and emerging tourism products to a global audience.
He noted that the engagement also provides a platform to connect with international tour operators, airlines, investors and destination management companies, with the aim of building strategic partnerships, expanding market access and creating new opportunities for the Nigerian tourism industry.
Nigeria’s participation also features private-sector representation through the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), reflecting the importance of collaboration between government and industry stakeholders in developing the country’s tourism sector.
Through its presence at WTM London 2026, the NTDA is advancing efforts to attract tourism investment, increase international visitor arrivals, stimulate employment opportunities and strengthen tourism’s contribution to Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
As global destinations continue to compete for tourism investment and international attention, Nigeria’s participation provides an opportunity to communicate its tourism value, deepen international relationships and unlock the economic potential of its diverse destinations.
