A young Nigerian student, Oluwademilade Odumuboni, has claimed victory in the 2022–23 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.

This remarkable 10-year-old, who attends Corona School in Gbagada, Lagos, emerged as the global champion, earning the prestigious grand prize of $5,000 by surpassing 782,852 contestants hailing from 90 different countries.

This annual competition, orchestrated by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan, invites schoolchildren worldwide to illustrate their dream cars, accompanied by an inspirational concept. Odumuboni’s winning entry depicted a waste converter with the visionary aim of aiding countries, especially African communities, in food production and environmental cleanliness.

In recognition of his outstanding achievement, Odumuboni was presented with a trophy and certificate at a ceremony hosted by Toyota Nigeria Limited in Lagos, acting on behalf of TMC in Japan.

Furthermore, his school, Corona, received a $10,000 educational prize, and his art teacher, Mr. Ojeagbega Oserogho, was honored with a laptop.

Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, the Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, expressed immense pride and excitement, highlighting how Odumuboni’s innovative and inspirational drawing set him apart from over 782,852 contestants across 90 countries/regions, placing Toyota (Nigeria) Limited at the forefront of global distributors.

Ade-Ojo also revealed that Toyota Motor Corporation initiated the contest in 2004, and Toyota Nigeria joined the endeavor four years later as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative, aimed at fostering creativity among children and allowing them to envision the future of automobiles through art.
