Tension has gripped the Officers’ Barracks within the Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police in Delta State.

This follows an unfortunate incident where Destiny Ogbantu, the son of a serving Inspector residing in the barracks, allegedly stabbed his neighbor, Onyebuchi Emeka, to death during a heated argument.

This gruesome event occurred on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2023.

According to eyewitnesses, after a dispute between Destiny and Onyebuchi, Destiny became enraged and retrieved a knife and dagger from his father’s apartment upstairs.

He then pursued Onyebuchi across several blocks within the barracks until Onyebuchi fell into a gutter.

During this pursuit, Destiny repeatedly stabbed Onyebuchi in the back and chest.

Residents of the barracks, including Destiny’s mother and siblings, witnessed this horrific incident.

Onyebuchi was rushed to a nearby private hospital by his family but succumbed to his injuries due to severe bleeding from the deep wounds.

In response to the incident, Destiny’s mother fled with her children, including the suspect, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

However, Destiny’s father, Inspector Ogbantu, was arrested as a proxy for his son’s actions and is currently in police custody.

The Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Civil Rights Council has intervened and called on the Nigeria Police Force not to overlook this matter.

They staged a protest, demanding justice for the deceased and urging Inspector Ogbantu to cooperate with the law enforcement authorities.

Unfortunately, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments at the time of reporting.

We had been working on resolving our problems prior to MohBad’s passing, and Naira Marley has now addressed the allegations of assault

0

Naira Marley, the head of Marlian Music, whose real name is Afeez Fashola, has responded to various accusations linking him to the unfortunate passing of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad.

Naira Marley clarified that they were in the process of resolving their issues before MohBad’s untimely demise on September 12 at the age of 27.

MohBad, a former member of the Marlian Music record label, had alleged in multiple videos that he was subjected to assaults by groups allegedly sent by his former boss Naira Marley and Naira Marley’s associate, Samson Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.

In response to these accusations, Naira Marley released a statement on his Instagram page, stating that while they did have disagreements during their collaboration, it never escalated to the level that some are portraying.

Naira Marley firmly asserted that he had no involvement in Ilerioluwa’s death, either directly or indirectly.

He emphasized that conflicts within the industry, like in any other field, are not uncommon, even among close associates.

Despite their differences, they were in the process of legally resolving their business dispute before MohBad’s passing.

Directors are parasites.” Says Tope Adebayo

“Directors are parasites.” Says Tope Adebayo.

Nollywood Movie Director
Nollywood Movie Director

Tope Adebayo, in this interview, has given an extensive lecture on the role of directors and their relationships with various artists whose contribution to the birth of production is indispensable. Objectively, he projects the plight of directors in the industry: “not being recognized well enough for their creative impacts on productions.”

An established fact that directors are parasites who feed only on the efforts of other artists who can literally show their work. Ask a director to show their work; you’ll understand better when they find it impossible to do that without calling on other artists like actors, writers, set designers, costimiers, cinematographers, etc. whose bodies serve as palettes for the director to show his creative abilities.

However, the director is an intellectual artist, as he rightly states by touching his head occasionally. Tope Adebayo goes further into the strength of directors as the overseers of productions and how the magnitude of the impact of a good director can be seen in works that are well orchestrated.

He goes further into the value of respect, that should not be traded for anything on set, especially between the director and every artist on set.

The value of research is well articulated. When an actor focuses more on themselves, the director focuses on everyone in the production. This superpower of a director is earned with extensive research. The director can see what any other person may not see.

This interview has not only shown Tope Adebayo as a director who knows what he’s doing but also gives a glimpse of what is to come from the industry where big minds awaken every day. It’s a good time to be alive.

Yet another fellow classmate of Tinubu from Chicago University provides testimony in a US court

0

The ongoing legal dispute between President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University has taken a new turn.

Olajide Adeniji, who claims to have been a classmate of Tinubu, testified in a U.S. district court that he knows Tinubu and even contested against him as the President of the Accounting Society Club in the Department of Business Admin/Accounting at the same university.

This development comes after public affairs analyst Durojaiye Ogunsanya also claimed to have been Tinubu’s coursemate and that they both graduated from the Department of Accounting and Business Administration in 1979 at the same university.

Adeniji’s affidavit, sworn on September 23 in the Northern District of Illinois Court in Chicago, confirms his familiarity with Tinubu, who is now the President of Nigeria, and their shared academic history at Chicago State University.

Atiku had previously obtained an application for CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records to his legal team, and a magistrate ordered the university to provide relevant documents within two days.

Atiku is currently challenging Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election and his affirmation by an election petition court in Nigeria.

The documents sought by Atiku’s legal team include admission records, attendance dates, degrees, awards, and honors received by Tinubu during his time at the university.

However, Tinubu has requested that the U.S. district Judge, Nancy Maldonado, protect his privileged information, such as admission records and transcripts, and release only his certificate to Atiku’s legal team, as emphasized by his lawyer, Christopher Carmichael.

This motion is based on the belief that the most critical information has already been established by Tinubu’s alma mater.

Mohbad: Representatives pause in a moment of silence and commit to closely monitoring the investigation

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives paid its respects to the late Afrobeats artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, who sadly passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023.

A day later, he was laid to rest.

The lower chamber honored him with a moment of silence as they convened for an executive session in Abuja.

During this session, prompted by an urgent motion from Mr. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, the House made additional resolutions.

These included a commitment to oversee investigations and royalty matters related to the late artist.

Mr. Benson also raised concerns about the need to revisit legislation within the entertainment industry, particularly copyright laws, and expressed apprehensions regarding contracts and agreements for entertainers.

In a recent update, Perez Medcare Hospital, where Mohbad was taken, issued a statement regarding his passing.

The hospital clarified that the singer had been brought in already deceased and dispelled rumors suggesting he had been admitted to the hospital.
