“I was 24 and I was a nobody when I met my wife and married her,” Bolanle Ninalowo said.

Like other Nollywood favorites, Bolanle Ninalowo and his wife Bunmi, a successful entrepreneur, have been deeply admired for their almost 20-year romance, full of ups and downs.

In a recent interview with Allure Vanguard, Bolanle Ninalowo met his true love Bunmi 24 years ago and recalled how his parents reacted to their nascent relationship at the time.

He said : “Bunmi is my treasure from God. Only God can bless a man with such a jewel. I saw her in a mall 19 years ago and it’s been never to let go ever since despite our shortcomings. You can say I recognised a blessing at first sight. Our families were very supportive. Our relationship was quite similar to that of our parents, having met each other in their youth as well. They gave us their blessings and supported us whole-heartedly.

Bunmi and I met when I was a nobody. I was just 24 trying to discover myself and my goals in life. We have been together since I had just a kobo and now still together as a blessed family. Though their constant display of love and affection towards one another might give the illusion of an all-time rosy love story, that isn’t the reality—and the two never fail to make this known.  The duo, blessed with two lovely children, had suffered separation for two years but have obviously emerged stronger, leading a love life that makes them a constant reference point.

Bolanle Ninalowo, a proud father of two, said of his 19-year journey: Our testimony so far. We had struggles and difficulties, but we found ourselves and meaning in each other. Hence our success as a couple today.

Award-winning actor Bolanle Ninalowo also shared how to keep romance and fun in a marriage.

Doing our best together. We train together, try to do our best for each other, and Bunmi looks beautiful day after day without hesitation. We try to keep the fire going by recreating the delights of the past. Sometimes we like to improvise and drift. I learned to be his father, brother and friend all day long. We are united in the sense that we have become inseparable and can hardly function without each other.”

Why men give women chocolate on Valentine’s Day.

0

Dr. Michael Ajidahun, also known as Dr. Sina explains why men give women chocolate on Valentine’s Day.

There are disagreement and theories as to what Valentine’s Day actually means, but for years, February 14 has been widely recognized as the day lovers celebrate their love with gifts, congratulations, and more. Cakes, flowers, candy and, more recently, bouquets are popular Valentine’s Day gifts, especially for women.

Ajidahun said in a tweet that chocolate is usually given to women by men because it increases certain chemicals, such as serotonin, that help with mood and sexual arousal.

He wrote, “Chocolates are natural sex enhancers & can help you last longer with harder erections. They contain phenylethylamine and serotonin, which can help with mood, sexual stimulation & erections.

Reason why a lot of ladies receive chocolate during Valentine’s Day; they don’t know.”

Also, research presented at the 2018 Experimental Biology meeting found that eating 48 grams (g) — a little more than 1.5 oz — of 70% cacao organic chocolate increased neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new synaptic connections, which could have positive effects on memory, cognition, and mood.

Sharing insights on this, a health journal, EveryDay Health, noted that some studies have shown that consuming dark chocolate with high percentages of cacao, such as 70%, may benefit your brain.

Also, a food scientist and dietician, Dr Joy DuBost, explained that there is research indicating that chocolate stimulates neural activity in areas of the brain associated with pleasure and reward, which in turn decreases stress and improves mood.

Other known benefits of dark chocolates include heart health, improved blood-sugar levels, reduced risk of diabetes when consumed accurately, gut health, and weight loss amongst others.

The Nigerian Movie Industry, What Makes It Popular?

0

Nigeria is the world’s second-largest producer of films, behind only India. Nigerian films, known as Nollywood, have become widely acclaimed – not just in Nigeria but also in other parts of Africa, the United States, and Europe. So, what is it about Nigerian movies that make them so popular?

The characters, storyline and production are of a high standard which is why Nigerians cannot get enough of them. Starting from the late 1980s, Nollywood films have brought fresh innovation to the national movie industry with their compelling storytelling and captivating plotlines. With a Nollywood movie, one never needs to worry about not being entertained, as the stories revolve around the everyday struggles of common people.

The core themes of Nigerian films speak to everyday Nigerians. Common topics covered in Nollywood films include matters related to family, clan, religious faith, romance, homecoming, and domestic violence. Nigerian movies also cover other themes, such as social issues, politics, and crime. These plotlines ignite emotions and compel viewers to take a deeper look at gender roles, economic class, and religion in the country.

Some of the films that have put Nollywood on the global map include King of Boys, Agesinkole, The Wedding Party, October 1st, Citation, Anikulapo, Elesin Oba, Brotherhood, Living In, Battle on Buka Street, ijakumo, and many more that are trending on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Prime Video, as well as in cinemas around the world.

In addition, Nigerian films are highly creative. Nollywood films often include elements of magic, culture, and folklore native to Nigeria. They also incorporate special effects, choreographed dance numbers, and elaborate costumes. All of these aspects give Nigerian films a unique voice that makes them stand out from other films around the world.

Another major appeal of Nigerian films is the fact that they are affordable. This makes them accessible to people of different economic backgrounds and social classes. Many Nigerians can view these films for a fraction of the cost of Hollywood films.

Overall, Nigerian films have made a huge impact on the film world. They have paved the way for the development of an indigenous Nigeria film industry and have introduced audiences to fascinating stories and characters. From powerful storytelling to moral lessons, there are many reasons why movies from Nigeria are so popular.
