Chairman of Fresh Nigeria Limited, Dr Yinka Ayefele, has described as disheartening, a Tik Tok video widely circulated on Tuesday, claiming that he is dead.

The video, which was hugely watched across the globe, was made with his pictures and that of his triplet with a dirge in one of gospel singer Tope Alabi’s tracks.

Made by one David, reactions to the viral video sent Dr Ayefele’s phone busy throughout Tuesday as his fans and well wishers from around the world called him to confirm.

Speaking with Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday night, Ayefele wondered what those behind the video wanted to gain by spreading rumour of his death.

“I will not die but live to declare the works of God.  God knows the people behind this very dastardly act and will punish them. What will they gain from spreading rumour of my death?

“On Fresh FM, Ibadan this evening, I did my programme called Let’s Talk about It jointly with Enitan Olusegun Bamidele (EOB). My phone kept ringing while on the show and Whatsapp messages have jammed by phone as well.

A lot of my fans and admirers from all over the world kept calling to find out what really happened. On realising it was fake news, they started cursing those behind it.

“I wish to tell Nigerians that I am hale and hearty and not dead. I am not even under the weather. For someone to conjure up this kind of wickedness is disheartening. I have handed over those behind it to God who will mete out appropriate punishment to them.

My fans, please disregard the rumour. If Jesus tarries, we will be here for a long time,” he said.

A lot of those who commented on the video rained curses on the maker and prayed to God to grant Ayefele good health to see many more happy years in life.

All my life I could imagine myself as an actor – Actor Natse Jemide

0

Actor, Natse Jemide, popularly known as Reggie for his role in the popular ‘Gen Z’ series, ‘Far from Home’, has said he sees himself acting for life.

The model cum actor, who spoke during an exclusive chat with Midweek Entertainment, noted that, unlike modelling, acting gave more room for creative exploration.

Jemide said, “I prefer acting to modelling. Modelling is fun, especially at the international level; I love the club, fashion, putting up a show together, going out and getting all those reactions, but it is limited as to what you can do as an individual.

“As a model, you sure pose, walk and others but acting is 10 times all of that. Acting is more creative, especially if you have a good director. Directors in the ‘Far from home’ were very good and open to ideas, which is a good thing for actors.

Most of the things I said were my own coined sentences. I was allowed to say this is how I would love to approach this character, this is what I would love to say in this situation, this is a better choice of words and it was good.

“Acting gives you more space to be creative. It is also more long term, unlike modelling which is age dependent, where you would always get this feeling that it could end at any time, acting is what I see myself doing my entire life.”

Narrating the challenges he encountered before attaining his current level, Jemide, who said he did not grow up thinking he would end up an actor, stated that it was tough for him figuring out who he was.

He said, “It was challenging coming to terms with who I was. I studied law so it was challenging transitioning from law to something else.

“I looked forward to having a corporate job but then transitioning out of that and getting my parents and people around me to get used to what I was changing into was like a shock to them. When I was in school, the plan was to make money on time and enjoy it later. I had the plan.

“But I realised that the system of waking up early to the same place, meeting the same people, wearing a suit, wasn’t for me. I didn’t enjoy school, the monotony, you can’t say this or that and all the rules.”

Jemide said as he grew older, he realised that traditional work was just an extension of school in terms of the vibes, and the same kind of energy, adding that as a creative person, he did not want that kind of lifestyle.

“He added, I looked for what would give that feeling that I wanted, it wasn’t necessarily modelling and acting it was being in the creative industry, I realised I was a creative person and that was it.”

Why the music business needs A & R service.

0

The founder of the Artist and Repertoire, Nigeria, Babatunde Williams, has said the music business would be nearly impossible to operate without the services of A&R representatives.

In an exclusive chat with Midweek Entertainment, Williams said A&R representatives made it possible for musicians to make good records or get their music across to the right audience.

He said, “Before the advent of A&R services, it was nearly impossible for musicians to make good records or get their music to the right people unless they lived in one of the major music cities and had a well-connected manager or music attorney to be out there and here is where have been a rescue to many record labels, music publishers, artist management firms, public relations firms, and sync companies that have utilised our services to find and sign acts.

We play an important role in the development of the artist, sometimes choosing songs for the musicians to record if they don’t write their material and building a basic promotional foundation for the album or singles.

“A&R duty gives much more than just access to the music industry decision-makers, it also provides professional feedback, and the most well-respected ‘musician’s toolbox’ in the business. We help create the right kind of music for the right pitch, and then give you access to the people who need it.”
