A limited series about the Biafran War is forthcoming from David Oyelowo.

0

David Oyelowo, a British-Nigerian actor and two-time NAACP Award winner, is a well-known figure in the film industry and has starred in a number of blockbuster films, including “Selma,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” and “Gringo.” He is renowned for giving engrossing and heartfelt performances that completely capture the complexity of the characters he plays. In his most recent project, Oyelowo will return to his native Nigeria and recount the tale of the bloody Biafran conflict, which had a negative impact on the lives of many Igbo people in the nation’s eastern area. The new limited series, which Deadline first revealed this week, is currently being developed with the BBC, together with newly established Argo Films and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon Productions.

The series will blend character-driven personal tale with themes of family, identity, and belonging at its core, seen through the perspective of a young Black British lady. While the limited series is still awaiting approval, the BBC original is scheduled to begin filming in several countries, including the UK and Nigeria, as it seeks to recall the events of two significant historical periods: the 1967–1970 Biafran War and contemporary Nigeria.

David Oyelowo

Oyelowo emphasized his desire to develop the series in order to highlight more important topics when he referred to “Biafra” as one of his prized efforts. “One of my most cherished projects is Biafra because of my Nigerian roots and desire to see the best African stories told. My life was formed by my parents’ union across the frowned-upon tribal lines of the Biafran conflict, just as it has been for millions of Nigerians, he tells Deadline of his connection to the issue.

With this limited series, Oyelowo and his production attempt to recover a lost identity and frequently forgotten history while telling an emotionally potent tale of sorrow and betrayal. Some award-winning authors Bola Agbaje of the 2013 comedy “Gone Too Far” and Lawrence Olivier for the series screenplay, as well as co-developing and directing roles by Ngozi Onwurah, will be working with him on the execution of this project. Oyelowo will be joined on the project by additional executive producers, including Yvonne Isimeme Ibazebo, well-known for her remarkable work on the British series “Top Boy,” and Fremantle’s Christian Vesper and Richard Johns.

BBnaija Star Kess has fulfilled his childhood wish of giving his parents a car and a home.

0

BBNaija star, Kess celebrated his mom’s birthday by gifting her a car and his parents, a tastefully furnished house.

The reality star and businessman shared the sweet news on his Instagram page. He revealed that it’s been a lifelong dream of his and his brother’s.

Sharing photos of the new car and house he gifted his parents, he wrote, “This has been a lifelong dream for me and my brother. We finally were able to present this car as a birthday gift to my mummy and this beautiful home to my parents. This is very special to us because of this very short story. 2010 was such a crazy year for us, I was in SS3 preparing for SSCE when the whole world came crashing down on us, pops suddenly became very sick, he could no longer shoulder his responsibilities hence we lost our home and lost everything we had. A family of seven automatically became squatters, each shared to live with family and friends. But today,I am grateful to God almighty for his Grace upon our lives. He came through for us. From being homeless to being house owners…. I don’t know who needs to hear this, THINGS MAY BE TOUGH RIGHT NOW, BUT GOD WILL COME THROUGH FOR YOU IN THIS NEW YEAR.”

Bimbo Ademoye discusses her relationship with her father, her first acting audition, and other topics on “Who’s In My House.”

0

On the debut episode of her new show, “Who’s in My House,” YouTuber and content creator Hawa Magaji is joined by Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye.

In this episode, Bimbo discusses her journey thus far, including her connection with her father, her first acting audition, overcoming depression, her special code-switching skills, upcoming projects, her sister’s support, the beautiful people who are on her side, and much more.

On Acting:

“My first audition was in 2013 but I got my first feature film in 2014. I did a series in 2015 but my first feature film that I was sure wasn’t going to die in a harddrive, that I was sure was going to come out on a platform, shout-out to Iroko TV, it was in 2016.”

On how supportive her dad has been:

“I remember the conversation vividly actually in his car, in school back in 2007. You know this form that you fill when they say first course, second course? Yeah, he was like, what are you trying to study and I said Theatre Arts. He was like oh, second nkor? I said Theatre Arts. He said, no you have to change and I said fine, English Language (as second choice). I studied Business Administration because Covenant University didn’t offer Theatre Arts as a course. But once I had that conversation with my dad, he was like that’s what you want? I am behind you. My dad financed everything. My first ever acting gig, they told me they were going to pay me N12,500 and they were going to pay me six months after shooting. My dad paid for my shooting budget of N50,000 during the shoot.”

On the greatest challenge she faced in the industry:

“I think I have been lucky because starting out, I started under the wings of a female. That’s Uduak Isong. So I didn’t really experience, not that I didn’t, but it didn’t affect me in anyway like the sexual harassment that people do talk about. You know, this person saying you have to sleep with me for a role. I mean, my mom (Uduak Isong) didn’t need me to see her. She saw the talent and she went for it. So, that aspect, nothing. I tend to always dwell on the positive aspect than to look at maybe if anybody is envious or anybody is trying to like sabotage or whatnot so I wouldn’t say I have had any challenge in my career like that. I mean, there are times that behaviors of people have gotten to me but I just waved it off like at the end of the day, you don’t share my last name so there’s no reason for you to be loyal to me or anything like that.

On self esteem:

I used to have a lot of self esteem issues growing up. You know, from not being with my parents together. I grew up with these thoughts in my head that nobody wanted to be my friend. Nobody wanted to, I am going to get emotional. Nobody wanted to be around me so my way of having friends were to give things like buy them over you know. In elementary school, it was like, I had to give my lunch money, in high school, I had to give my provisions to and some of these kids saw through that. I didn’t have any self esteem at all. It wasn’t a case of low self esteem. It wasn’t there. So, being in the midst of people and having them come say hi, I was like, what do you want, just say what you want let me give it to you so you can go. I am still dealing with that even at this stage and that’s why I am very close to my dad because my dad was really big on helping me with that. I wet the bed for like a very long time, I am talking till like SS2, SS3 and my dad would laugh it off and be like hey! my pikin o! just to make me feel better. So I don’t like human beings like that because I feel like they are full of shit based off of my experience. Most times, I just like to be by myself because the people I trust are not always around because of my job and status. I’d rather not deal with the hurt that people tend to bring. I’d rather just be on my own and just be around the few people I have given access to me.

DOYIN DAVID, EX BIG BROTHER NAIJA HOUSEMATE, IS SET TO RELEASE A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT.

0

Doyin David, a licensed medical radiographer and an ex housemate of the just concluded Big Brother Naija Season 7 Reality Tv show, is about to release a documentary that explores the effects of sexual abuse.

The movie is set to challenge stigmatization surrounding sexual assault victims and to also raise awareness on how to show love to the victims of sexual assault, in order to enable them become comfortable enough to share their experiences.

DOYIN DAVID

According to Doyin, there are growing worries about how societal anxiety may affect people’s emotional wellbeing given the situation of the country and the rest of the world. We no longer maintain the status quo in the face of these concerning views. As a result, that became the driving force behind the production of this movie. The best way to tell the tale is to let others experience it and witness what happens to the victims and why the abusers continue to be champions. So I made the decision to do more than just give a seminar.

According to Nollywood actress and key cast member Mojisola Adebanjo, the purpose of this film is to tell the story of rape and sexual assault in a way that has never been attempted before, with the ultimate aim of inspiring key stakeholders to take timely and effective action to end the scourge in our society.

UNENDING DIGITAL POSTER

This is why the film is called UNENDING because the story never ends.

I hope that you enjoy my very first attempt at acting and movie production as we continue to raise awareness against sexual assault.

This movie will be premiere online from the 7th of January 2023

Timini Egbuson explained his reasons for quitting church.

0
Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson has revealed that he no longer goes to church.
He revealed the reason why he stopped going to church while speaking during an interview with Lilian Afegbai on her Youtube show.
According to him, he stopped going to church after being betrayed by the church.
He went onto state that there is someone who introduced a bible plan to him and he sometimes has to lie to the person about how often he checks the plan.
According to him: “I feel like me and God have a personal relationship. I’ve been betrayed by the church in the past. Like, I was a full church boy. In my teenage years, I used to preach in the main church on Sundays. Everything you think I have now in terms of swag and whatever, it was in church that I learned it.

“Then I went to some other churches. But I just realized that there are a lot of pretences. And I know it’s not a reason to stop going because obviously. So basically you know, it’s just a thing where I was just like okay let me find this man called God on my own. And that’s what we are doing right now.

“There’s someone I’m seeing, or talking to, right now that introduced me to this whole Bible plan. I mean, sometimes I just lie to her when she asks “have you checked it this morning?” In terms of reading the Bible again and all that, I’m not really there yet but like a one on one relationship with my God. Talking to him saying “how far baba? This is what I’m doing” and He’s been helping me make the best decisions so far. And it’s calm.”

Grew up and resided in Owerri How are they expecting me to speak with an American or US accent? -Mercy Eke

0
Former Big Brother Naija winner, Mercy Eke has claimed that relationships formed during the show are fake.
According to the reality star, romantic relationships from the show are scams and strategies.
She made the revelation during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
Mercy also revealed why she got stuck in her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Ike Onyema.
Recall that Ike and Mercy were an item during the reality show but the relationship failed to sail outside the show, which dashed the hope of many fans.
Speaking on the relationship, Mercy said if she had known her fanbase was strong, she wouldn’t have bothered getting involved in a relationship with Ike.
According to the reality TV star, even when their relationship wasn’t working she couldn’t move away from Ike because of the money involved.
On her Igbo accent, Mercy said those expecting her to speak with an American accent must be insane stressing she grew up in Owerri the capital of Imo State.
In her words: “BBNaija relationships are the biggest scam, it was even original for me initially, as a matter of fact, if I had known that I was a strong housemate and that people loved me for me, I wouldn’t have bothered getting involved with him.

I wouldn’t say it was a strategy, for me, we flowed with it but we had to put up a show even when not happy for people who aren’t even in relationships. If it is not working out, you move but in my case I couldn’t, I had to be there cos of money, otherwise, I won’t have my complete money.

“I schooled in Owerri, primary and secondary. It was only the National Youth Service that made me leave Owerri. How do they expect me to speak in the US or American accent? you must be really mad.”

I can’t hate you in as much as I feel angry for how you handled the whole situation. Women are fragile and it was so easy to solve issues and have both women if you had not involved social media .
