Actor Chuks Joseph

In an exclusive interview with Ranks Africa’s Movie Culture Spotlight Magazine “Screen”, he discussed his journey in the movie industry check his responses below:

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In five years, I envision myself as a more accomplished actor and person, having achieved success in a variety of projects and earned several awards. With the help of God, I hope to have taken my craft to an international level.

Were there any early difficulties as an ACTOR, and what kept you going?

Yes, there were certainly some early difficulties as an actor. However, my passion for the craft and my unwavering belief in myself kept me going. I was determined to get better and make things work, no matter what.

You are such a fun and loving person according to your social media; how can you describe your professional self?

I take my work very seriously. When I’m given a character to portray, I conduct thorough research to ensure I’m accurately representing them.

I take notes while reading my scripts and preparing for the role, and I always strive to be punctual on set while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Despite this, I still manage to bring my fun-loving personality to the table.

What words of wisdom would you offer to talented people out there nursing ambitions to become actors?

Always believe in yourself and your capabilities; stay true to your path and let passion fuel your ambition, for the journey to success is not always easy.

Tell us three things you like and three things you dislike about your current position as an actor in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

I am grateful for the recognition I am receiving from producers and casting directors I have always admired and wanted to work with. The quality of films being released is remarkable and is sparking conversations on social media. I am also pleased to see that younger actors and filmmakers are being given the opportunity to create something special.

Due to the attention I am receiving, people are expecting me to have a lot of money, when in reality I am still working hard to make a good life for myself. This newfound attention is taking some getting used to, but I am confident that I will adjust with time.

The film industry can be unpredictable, with periods of inactivity followed by a flurry of work offers that can sometimes conflict with each other. This is something I have no control over, as filmmaking is a collaborative effort and the people involved have different schedules and work times. I am getting used to this, but it will take some time.

What are you looking forward to in the new year any projects?

My debut project, Dark October, is coming to Netflix, and it is a pivotal film in my career thus far. Additionally, I have a number of other unreleased features, such as ‘The Origin’, that will be released on various platforms throughout the year.

I am also looking forward to being cast in more projects, being on set, and creating the best work possible.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In the next five years, I envision myself achieving great success in the film industry. With the support of God and my fans, I am confident that I will be able to realize my dream of becoming a successful filmmaker.

Were there any early difficulties as an ACTOR, and what kept you going?

As an independent producer in my early stages, I faced a plethora of challenges. Everything seemed new to me, as the film industry was a foreign world. I felt like giving up on this career, but my passion and love for the profession kept me going. I reminded myself of my goal to become a successful filmmaker, so I had no choice but to keep pushing forward.

You are such a fun and loving person according to your social media; how can you describe your professional self?

I am a hardworking and driven individual who is not afraid to take on a challenge. I am passionate about my work and I have the skills and determination to get the job done. I strive to be the best version of myself and to make a positive impact in whatever I do.

What words of wisdom would you offer to talented people out there nursing ambitions to become actors?

My advice to talented individuals with the ambition of becoming an actor is to never give up on their dream. Believe in your talents and abilities, and always remember to pray, as prayer can solve any problem. With dedication and hard work, you can make your dreams a reality.

Tell us three things you like and three things you dislike about your current position as an actor in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

I love the fact that as an actor, I get the opportunity to create special and impactful moments for a wide range of audiences. I have also noticed that my attitude, the way I dress, and other aspects of my life have changed since I became an actor, as now younger people see me as a role model.

Additionally, I am grateful for the chance to meet important personalities that I may not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.

On the other hand, I dislike the lack of freedom that comes with my profession. I can no longer go out as I please without disguising myself so that people won’t recognize me.

Furthermore, many of the men I meet don’t want to get serious with me because they are critical of my job and think I can’t keep a home.

What are you looking forward to in the new year—any projects?

I am looking forward to this new year with great anticipation; my new and highly anticipated movie, Ekuro, will be released next month. This year, I will be giving my fans a steady stream of movies to enjoy.

Check out some of her Behind The Scene Pictures of Ekuro the movie:

In an exclusive interview with Ranks Africa’s Movie Culture Spotlight Magazine “Screen”, she discussed her journey in the movie industry check her responses below:

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Definitely a fulfilled and globally sought-after actor in Nollywood and Hollywood, and a businesswoman because my fashion line is coming soon and I’m venturing into real estate – it has always been my dream to own properties.

Were there any early difficulties as an ACTOR, and what kept you going?

I wasn’t getting recognition as an actor by the right people in the industry, but what kept me going was really believing in myself and my craft, and being consistent.

You are such a fun and loving person according to your social media; how can you describe your professional self?

My friends always say I’m the fun one in the group, and some people call me ‘Smiley’ – I’m always about that pure positive energy. I’m somewhat introverted, but I know how to have a good time and light up the room – it all depends on my mood.

What words of wisdom would you offer to talented people out there nursing ambitions to become actors?

If I could give any advice, it would be to be yourself. Don’t try to be a certain way or try to be like a certain actor. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have your role models, but be authentic, be unique, and own it. It all starts with you – believe in yourself, never underestimate your capabilities, and be confident in your decisions. Never stop dreaming because your dreams are valid – I’m a living proof that dreams do come true.

I’m honestly excited for the recent popular Netflix Original Far From Home, where I played NNENNA, and our show is doing so well. I’m so happy for the young and new actors evolving, because there is love, togetherness, and understanding. I’m just super excited for the new Nollywood and our growth so far.

Tell us what you like and what you dislike about your current position as an actor in the Nigerian entertainment industry?

There are a few things I don’t like about the industry, such as the long waiting hours on set and getting typecasted. I try to avoid this a lot, because I wouldn’t want to be known for a particular role repeatedly – I love versatility in acting. But overall, I’m incredibly proud of the progress we have made and the global recognition we are receiving.
