Nigeria’s golden boy, Wizkid, has sold out at Accor Arena, an indoor sports arena and concert hall with a capacity of 20,300+ located in the neighborhood of Bercy, on boulevard de Bercy, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France.

The announcement was made on the official social media of ACCOR Arena and Live Nation. Considering Wizkid has just released another official single after 2 years, it is worth celebration.

AFRIMA 2022 PUBLISHES NOMINEES LIST

The international executive committee of the awards published the list in a statement on Wednesday.

This year, the Western African region has the most nominations with 134, the Eastern African region comes in second with 69 nominations, the Southern African region is close behind with 68 nominations, Central Africa pulls its weight with 52 nominations, and the Northern African region is close behind with 49 nominations.

Costa Titch, the South African trailblazer, leads the list this year with six nominations for his 2021 hit song, “Big Flexa,” in “Song of the Year,” “Breakout Artiste of the Year,” “Best African Collaboration,” “Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Electro,” and “Best Artiste, Duo or Group in Use of African Dance/Choreography.”

Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Kizz Daniel, and Tiwa Savage all snagged four nominations including the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category.

“The nominees list comprising 29 continental award categories and 10 regional award categories released for public voting on www.afrima.org. The remaining category for the “Legend Award” will be announced at the awards. Also, we brought back the “Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary” category, this year, due to the availability of quality entries for this year’s edition. Recall that we had to suspend it, last year, due to a shortage of quality entries.“Overall, we are very proud and confident in our work, and we would continue to intensify our efforts to ensure AFRIMA remains the ultimate recognition of African music globally in line with its vision,” Head of Culture, African Union Commission on the Jury, Angela Martins, said.

The AFRIMA awards ceremony will feature a 4-day fiesta of music, glitz, and glamour aimed at celebrating Africa, recognising talents and expanding the economic frontiers of the culture and creative industry on the continent. The event is scheduled to commence with the welcome soiree, followed by the AFRIMA Music Village, the host city tour, Africa Music Business Summit, and the exclusive nominees’ party and concluded with the live awards ceremony broadcast to over 84 countries around the world.

2022 All Africa Music Awards will hold from December 8 to 11, 2022. A special announcement will be made on the host country and location for the awards, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

The public voting portal for the 2022 AFRIMA edition would be live on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 12:00 pm CAT. You can visit the official website www.afrima.org to vote. Voting closes at 12.00 (CAT), December 10, 2022, before the AFRIMA main awards ceremony.

He shared the news via his Instagram page on Wednesday, September 14, noting that he would do Justice as broadcaster of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ‘Goalkeepers’ events which will see heavy weights like Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, Malala Yousafzai, Kal Penn, The Honourable Mia Mottley (Prime Minister of Barbados) and a host of others.

The TikTok star recently became the most-followed person, with a following of about 149.5 million people and 2.4 billion likes on the platform. And he is also making all he deserves for his dedication to his craft.

Speaking with the folks at Fortune, the 22-year-old revealed he is learning English by watching American cartoons and movies, as well as spending an hour every day working with a tutor. He also wishes to become an actor.

He had told TMZ that his ultimate goal would be to star in a film alongside Will Smith. “He started to dream about being an actor after watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Lame said. “His goal is to be in a movie, hopefully, one day with [Will].”

Now,  Fortune has revealed that star earned $450,000 through his partnership with Hugo Boss, and the outlet also reviewed his contract with a major Hollywood studio indicating he would make $750,000 for a single clip. Khaby is estimated to have made around $10 million this year.

Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, and Folashade Oluwafemiayo receive national honors from President Buhari

Track queen and record breaker, Tobi Amusan, has been conferred the Order of the Niger (OON) by President Muhammadu Buhari. She received this award for setting numerous world records in the World Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Tobi received the accolade on Thursday at a reception for the Team Nigeria athletes who were at the Commonwealth Games and the World Athletics Games. According to Premium Times, Team Nigeria got a total monetary prize of N200 million for their performance in the two championships.

Her accomplishments over the past couple of months have been nothing short of spectacular.

She became the first Nigerian to win a World Athletics Championship when she set a new mark in the 100-meter hurdles in the 2022 competition in Oregon, USA. At the Commonwealth Games, she won gold in the 100-meter hurdles by setting a new game record, and at the Diamond League Finals, she defended her title by setting a new record.

National honour was also bestowed to Nigeria’s long jumper, Ese Brume, who won silver at the World Athletics Championships and gold in the Commonwealth Games by breaking a Game Record.

Also receiving a national honour is para powerlifter Folashade Oluwafemiayo. At both the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she won gold in the Women’s 68 kg category by setting new world records.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President stated that;

I watched with millions of Nigerians those exciting moments when you all brought smiles to us and our homes by breaking world, national and games records, as well as achieving personal best in your careers.

Your outstanding performances in recent times are consistent with the determination of a nation always yearning for excellent performance. You all, members of Team Nigeria have ignited the spirit for victory in our nation but even more you have been victorious in major sporting championships and games.

I have followed keenly your achievements at the World Championships in Oregon USA and indeed your remarkable performance at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom. And I am very pleased that you displayed at both the personal and group levels great sporting talents and delivered for your country great podium performances.

Twelve times the world stood still as our green, the white-green national flag was hoisted and the National Anthem recited. Thirty-five times we made it to the podium. You all Team Nigeria made that possible.

You brought glory and honour to our country. And today, on behalf of the nation- I say, Thank You!
